Pee Dee branch point
The family history places Hugh at the center of the family’s nineteenth-century expansion in the Pee Dee. His household produced branches important to both the place history and the modern family reconstruction.
Connection to Andrew Poston
Andrew Poston, born in 1829, was one of Hugh’s children. Andrew later became the best-supported namesake-linked figure associated with the railroad-era community of Poston.
Connection to the later family line
Another son, Hugh Poston of 1835, became the father of Louella Poston. Louella’s marriage to John Henry Poston later reunited the direct surname line with the close Andrew-linked collateral branch.
